Spawn somewhere in the nether
What actually happened was...:
My minecraft shut down.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go in nether portal
2. Teleport to nether
3. Game crash

JRE (1.6.0_31-b05) by the looks of that.
Can you please try upgrading to the latest version of the JRE and see if the issue is resolved.
