When the player logs out and logs back in, it appears that the Happy Ghasts' home location resets to the position they are currently at. Overtime, this causes the Happy Ghasts's homes to shift from their initial home.
This can be observed by looking at a harnessed happy ghast and tracing the outline of its home (a radius of 32 blocks). By repeatedly logging out and back in, you can see that its home moves away from the initial home as it can move freely outside of its original home (cf. attached video “happy ghast home.mp4” ; its original home is the red circle).
