When more than one window is active — for example, using Firefox with YouTube Picture-in-Picture — the game incorrectly detects that it has lost focus, even though it should only reduce FPS when minimized (not when unfocused).
Despite having the "Reduce FPS when minimized" setting enabled (and not AFK), Minecraft still throttles FPS unnecessarily.
Possible fixes:
Add an option like "Reduce FPS when: Never".
Or adjust focus detection so Minecraft only throttles FPS when the window is actually minimized, not simply unfocused.
Environment
Zorin OS 17 (Linux) with KDE Plasma Desktop Environment (installed manually)
Using SDM (Simple Desktop Display Manager) idk if its SDM or SDDM
This issue may also occur on Ubuntu, Debian, Arch, and other Linux distributions with KDE manually installed or pre installed.

Can’t reproduce in 25w18a on macOS Sequoia 15.4.1 (also using Firefox with YouTube picture-in-picture), if I had to guess your OS does not handle PIP fully correctly or does not provide PIP functionality that Firefox relies on on macOS. Maybe search the web for “window focus issues with YouTube picture-in-pictore on Zorin OS” or something similar and see if any helpful resources come up.
UPDATE: I think i fixed it by turning off vsync but ima keep it up just in case also maybe fix vsync?? or maybe vsync is causeing the og problem???
