This behavior was introduced in 24w33a.
Beacon beams consist of an opaque inner beam and a translucent outer beam (an "aura"). Since a recent version, this aura is now always rendered behind block entities. This used to work correctly in all graphics modes and is now working incorrectly in all graphics modes.
Steps to reproduce
Construct a beacon.
Place chests and shulker boxes next to the beacon.
Position yourself on the opposite side of the beacon, so that the beacon beam is between you and the aforementioned blocks.
Look at the blocks through the beacon beam and take note whether the outer beacon beam is visible in front of them.
Observed behavior
The outer beacon beam will not be visible where the chests and shulker boxes are rendered.
Expected behavior
The outer beacon beam would be visible, as was the case in versions prior to 24w33a.
