Villagers that are summoned by command will not perform common villager actions (collecting items, breeding, farming)

Villagers who are spawned using “/summon minecraft:villager” do not pick up items or breed, and farmer villagers do not plant or harvest crops. Job-taking, trading, and sleeping are unaffected. Villagers who spawn naturally outside of the village and are transported to it will become part of the village and behave normally.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Start in a naturally generated village where the original residents have died

  2. Spawn villagers using “/summon minecraft:villager”

  3. Drop carrots or potatoes near the villagers; plant crops for farmer villagers

Expected behavior

All villagers will pick up the food and start making breeding checks; farmer villagers will harvest crops when they are grown.

Actual result

Any spawned villagers do not react to the food, do not collect food from natural sources like farmers, and will never breed. Spawned farmers do not harvest crops or plant new ones.

Environment

Vanilla Minecraft 1.21.6 Pre-Release 2 with no mods installed, in a survival world on a chunk originally generated in 1.21.5, "villager trade rebalance" experiment enabled
