Massive Framerate Drop From 1.4.2 to 1.4.4 [EDIT: FIXED]

EDIT: Problem was easily resolved by updating graphics card drivers. Fault was with NVidia, not Mojang. My apologies!

During 1.4.2, I ran both the vanilla client and server .exe on my laptop without any issues. Minecraft ran at a solid 60fps throughout, and my friends were able to connect to the server with little problems, even on max settings.
Ever since the 1.4.4 client and server update, however, both myself and a frequent user of my server have been experiencing extreme framerate drops in-game, peaking at around 10fps. I haven't changed any of my settings, merely updated the game in-client and simply replaced the server .exe as I would after any update. Chunks load slowly, lighting glitches horribly (chests covered in shadows when they're 2 blocks away from a torch/glowstone) and the game is unplayable overall.
It would be most appreciated if a solution was provided as quickly as you can manage!
Thank you for your time,
-PK
