2 Overworld Nether Portals syncing to one Nether Nether Portal

I am trying to make a second portal in my base in the overworld to send me to a different part of the nether but it keeps sending me to the original portal in the nether. Ive tried breaking the portals and moving the portals but nothing has worked. It seems that any portals opened near an existing portal default to sending me to the first portal.
