The text cursor is no longer subject to the color inversion of highlighted characters

This behavior was introduced in 25w16a.

The bug

As of a recent version, the text cursor is no longer subject to the color inversion of highlighted characters. It’s now always being displayed in its regular color, e.g., light gray.

This decreases the visibility of the text cursor in text input boxes with a dark background, inverted to a light background, as the color difference becomes hard to notice. It may make some characters seem cut off or invisible for a brief moment.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Enter a character, for example the following one, in a text input box with a dark background, for example the chat window.

    8
  2. Press Shift + Left Arrow on your keyboard.

  3. Look at the cursor as it blinks.

Observed behavior

The cursor will appear light gray while blinking.

Expected behavior

The cursor would appear dark blue while blinking.
