Subtitles are completely missing with disabled audio output device.

Observed behaviour: Subtitles are missing if in Windows settings the audio device is disabled.

Expected behaviour: Subtitles would show up no matter if there is an audio device enabled or not.

How to reproduce:

1: Go into the minecraft settings and enable the subtitles.

→ Subtitles would show up

2: Now go to your system settings on Windows 11, → System → Sound → Speakers (see screenshot) → Don’t allow sound to be played on these speakers

3: Switch back to Minecraft

❌ → The subtitles are gone. Summon a zombie to test if they’re really gone.

4: Now switch back to your settings and enable the audio again (note the changed path on the screenshot)

→ Now they’re back.

Environment

Win 11, Lenovo Yoga L13
