When upgrading from 1.21.8 to snapshot 25w35a the nether dimension reset. When returning to the previous version without restoring from a backup, the nether dimension is back to what it should be.
Environment
Linux Ubuntu server backend, server versions used: spigot 1.21.8, vanilla snapshot 25w35a, and fabric snapshot 25w35a (loader.0.17.2-launcher.1.1.0)

I will test this in a single player and a clean server, but the original was a vanilla server in 1.21.6, then updated to a snapshot (between 1.21.6 and 1.21.8 I can’t remember) and then a spigot version of 1.21.8 and finally the snapshot 25w35a.
I did some more testing and a bit of research, I found some information on upgrading from vanilla to spigot and the nether. I would assume that the same problems can occur when switching the other way.
I believe this is an issue with the spigot/vanilla transition and not a bug in minecraft. Thank you, and apologies for wasting resources on this.

Was the affected world created in vanilla build and then updated to the newest snapshot?
If not, can you reproduce this issue in vanilla environment?
