When riding a happy ghast in a straight line, the minecraft.custom:minecraft.happy_ghast_one_cm statistic appears to be updating correctly, but if the player chooses to turn it goes up for the length of time the happy ghast is turning.
Thus it appears like the rate of angular change is also being fed into the statistic rather than just the distance actually moved i.e. the change in the happy ghast’s coordinates over time.
This is somewhat surprising.
I oberved this by creating a new scoreboard
/scoreboard objectives add ghast_cm minecraft.custom:minecraft.happy_ghast_one_cm
And making it visible in the sidebar
/scoreboard objectives setdisplay sidebar ghast_cm
And then jumping on a happy ghast.
Linear movement genuinely appears to be correct in all directions. Turning on the spot (by moving the mouse) gives an increase apparently proportional to the turn speed. Turning while engaging in linear movement makes the stat increase much more rapidly.
