Mannequin heads can be made to face unnatural directions

To reproduce:

  • Spawn a mannequin.

  • Push it into a boat, which causes it to ride it.

  • Ride the boat, and turn it around. At this point, the mannequin’s head is locked to the angle it was when it entered (in relation to its body).

  • Break the boat. The mannequin’s head will still be in the same direction it was while in the boat, but the body will think it is still facing the default direction, and when pushed will act accordingly, resulting in the mannequin’s head being able to go in the opposite direction of its body.

What should happen is the mannequin should a) move its body according to the head’s new direction after leaving the boat, or b) remember the original direction its head was facing after leaving the boat.

Shouldn’t the mannequin’s head move in sync with the body while in the boat, and face the direction any entity would initially after leaving a boat, with the head and body in sync? (or is that what you’re saying and I’m just not getting it?)

Hi!
Thank you for your report!

  • Is the NPC’s head locked in this certain direction rather than moving unnaturally?

The mannequin’s head is locked in a direction when out of a boat. While inside a boat, the head position is locked in relation to the body, but upon leaving the boat, the body will still remember the original direction and act as if it is still facing that direction while the head will become locked to a new direction. So, the mannequin’s head is locked in a direction at all times, but can be put in unnatural poses by being pushed once its direction is changed using a boat.

Update: I tried to reproduce this bug and I wasn’t able to get it to happen, but then with a different angle it did happen. It appears that it only sometimes happens, and quitting and reloading the world fixes it.
