Firefly bushes change with the daylight cycle. Come night, there will be light and sound effects. However, placing an observer facing the firefly bush does not detect the block update. This makes the way the firefly bush behaves incoherent with well established game mechanics.

The Firefly Bush does not have a blockstate for day/night, so it’s not a bug.
