If the copper golem is ontop of a chest it just opens it but doesn't sort it and just skips over the chest. When it should sort them no matter where the copper golem is sorting the chest frrom

Superflat world with copper golem empty chests and copper chest. Also a survival world with the copper golem climbing ontop of chests
