Game crashes when a trident entity with PierceLevel ≥ 1 hits a mob or player

In snapshot 25w41a, setting the PierceLevel tag of a trident entity to 1 or higher causes the game to crash upon hitting a mob or player.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Create or load a world with cheats enabled.

  2. Set the game mode to Survival or Adventure.

  3. Run the following command:

    /summon trident ~ ~3 ~ {PierceLevel:1}
  4. Let the trident hit any mob or player.

Expected Result:

The trident should hit the entity normally without crashing, even with PierceLevel set.

Actual Result:

The game crashes when the trident hits a mob or player.

Notes:

  • Occurs only in snapshot 25w41a. In previous versions, the PierceLevel tag on trident entity had no special effect, and the trident behaved normally without causing a crash.

  • This issue does not occur with arrows that have the same tag, nor when hitting non-living entities such as armor stands or boats.

  • Commands are required for reproduction; this does not occur in normal gameplay.
