In Survival or Adventure mode, a specific key combination causes the game's client-side item display to desynchronize from the server-side inventory data, creating a "ghost" item.
Steps to reproduce:
Ensure you are in Survival or Adventure mode.
Have at least two different stackable items (e.g., Stone
Aand DirtB) in your hotbar, each in a separate slot.Select the hotbar slot containing Item
A.Press and hold the
Qkey (default "Drop Item" key), and while holding it, press the hotbar number key corresponding to the slot of ItemB.
Observed Results:
A physical, pick-up-able copy of Item
Ais thrown from the player. In the hotbar, Item
Aremains visually but becomes a "ghost" (disappears upon any interaction like usage, or opening/closing a container/GUI).The quantity of Item
Bis decreased by 1 as if it were consumed. The hotbar slot originally containing Item
Bmay become visually empty (no icon or text) but is still functionally selectable.
Expected Results:
Pressing
Qshould drop one item from the currently selected hotbar slot (ItemA).No change should occur to Item
Bin its separate slot.Inventory state should remain consistent between client and server.
Additional Notes:
This glitch does not create permanent duplicate items. The "ghost" item (
A) is lost upon inventory refresh, leading to a net loss of one ItemBand potential inventory confusion. The core issue appears to be an inventory state desync triggered by the specific two-key input during the item drop action.
Environment

Platform: Java Edition (Tested on Windows 11)
Game Mode: Survival / Adventure
