Upon launching the game, the entire process just copies whatever is in the background and then becomes a sleeping process in System Monitor. The log does not have anything in it either. Happens on every Minecraft version from 1.20.2 onwards.

Could you please provide more details. As we have no repro of this issue.
Could you please record a video of the issue and upload it?
Are there any custom arguments set for version that the issue occurs on?
Are there any background processes or applications running that might interfere with the game's performance?
Could you upload a screenshot from the “Edit Installation” menu?
Have you tried reinstalling the launcher and the Minecraft game? (Remember to create backup files before doing so.)

The only things running in the background are Firefox and OBS in this video.
There are no custom arguments other than the ones the launcher defaults to.
