When a pig struck by lightning spawns a zombified piglin, the spawned zombie piglin is not persistent, and will therefore despawn outside of 32 blocks from the player. Given the uses and rareness of this event, I expect the a mob spawned in this manner should not despawn, but stay persistent for the purpose of player engagement, exploration and avoidance of frustration (in my case). This is not a new problem with the code, but one I think should be addressed, as it is not consistent with other game mechanics in any way.
Environment
I was playing Structureless Superflat, and had set up a pig pen with a lightning rod for gold, and went AFK. Little did I know, but when I came back, all of my pigs where gone. This was horribly disappointing to me and is not something I want in the game.
