Squid and glow squid in air do not respond correctly to the Levitation effect—they rise approximately one extra block compared to other mobs under the same effect duration and amplifier.
Steps to reproduce
Create a test world and mark heights using smooth stones (e.g., build a vertical column with block markers every block).
Spawn a squid, a husk, and a pig in the air at the same Y level.
Apply Levitation I for 10 seconds to all non‑player mobs with:
/effect give @e[type=!minecraft:player] minecraft:levitation 10 0 trueObserve and compare the maximum height reached by each mob during the effect.
Expected result
The squid/glow squid ascends the same number of blocks as the other mob (approximately 9 blocks from the starting point).
Actual result
The squid/glow squid ascends about 10 blocks, while the other mob ascends about 9 blocks. Squid and glow squid gain approximately 1 extra block of upward movement compared to other mobs under identical Levitation conditions.
Additional context
This was observed when the squid is not in water (i.e., in air).
The effect amplifier and duration were identical for all mobs. Higher effect levels make the difference more noticeable.
Both squid and glow squid exhibit the same behavior.
