I was messing around with the Sulfur Cubes in creative mode and wanted to see how much I could push the game to see what blocks they can hold. I’m aware you’re not able to give the Sulfur Cube a skull in survival, but you’re able to modify entity data to give them player heads so I wanted to play around with it.
I created custom textures for heads and was able to modify the data properly so that the custom head I made was inside the Sulfur Cube. Alas, the texture of the head did not render. At first I thought it didn’t work, but when I checked the entity data the texture was there, and when I removed the head from the Sulfur Cube with shears, the texture of the head was in fact correct; it just wasn’t rendering inside the Sulfur Cube for some reason.
Steps to reproduce easily:
Get a custom head (any player head will do)
Place the custom head on an Armor Stand
Get a Sulfur Cube
Type in the command /data modify entity @n[type=minecraft:sulfur_cube] equipment.body set from entity @n[type=armor_stand] equipment.head
Instead of displaying the texture on the head, it displays the default “Steve” head texture.
I suspect this has something to do with the fact that head takes up the “body” slot within the cube; so it doesn’t follow the same rules whenever an entity had a custom head in the “head” slot. It could be for any reason though.
