In Minecraft Java Edition 26.2, when scrolling the mouse wheel very quickly, the hotbar selection occasionally does not land on the end slots (slot 1 or slot 9). Specifically, when scrolling upward rapidly, the selection may jump directly from slot 2 to slot 9 without selecting slot 1, or it may visually highlight slot 1 but fail to update the player's held item to match that slot. When scrolling downward rapidly, the same issue occurs at slot 9. This behavior is inconsistent and depends on scroll speed.
Steps to Reproduce:
Launch Minecraft Java Edition 26.2 with a default hotbar (9 slots).
Ensure the mouse wheel is functional and set to a standard scrolling sensitivity (no custom acceleration software).
Place an item in slot 1 and empty the remaining slots.
Start with the selection on any middle slot (e.g., slot 5).
Scroll the mouse wheel upward (forward) as quickly as possible, repeatedly, while observing slot 1 and the current held item.
Repeat the same process but scroll downward (backward) rapidly, observing slot 9.
Perform multiple rapid scroll bursts; the faster the scroll speed, the more frequently the issue occurs.
Observed Results:
When scrolling upward quickly, the selection sometimes jumps from slot 2 directly to slot 9, completely skipping slot 1.
In other cases, slot 1 becomes visually highlighted (the white selection box moves to slot 1), but the player's main hand still holds the item from the previously selected slot (e.g., slot 2 or slot 9).
When scrolling downward quickly, the same misbehavior occurs at slot 9 – either skipped entirely or highlighted without switching the held item.
The issue is intermittent and more pronounced with very high scroll speeds.
Expected Results:
Each discrete scroll step should move the selection to the adjacent hotbar slot in the corresponding direction.
When scrolling upward from slot 2, the selection should always land on slot 1, and the held item should update to whatever is in slot 1.
When scrolling downward from slot 8, the selection should always land on slot 9, and the held item should update to slot 9's content.
The end slots (1 and 9) should never be skipped, and visual selection should always match the actual held item.

Cause my computer's video memory is too small, my recorded video will be too laggy. If you don't mind, I can also upload it. I think you can reproduce it if you saw the steps.
And for the screenshot, I can upload it now. I didn’t modify any options after I installed the game.

My video is too laggy, and even you can’t get any information from my video. So, please try again. For example, you can place one wood in the first slot, and scroll the mouse wheel upwards fast. Sometimes, it skips the first slot.
Thank you for your report!
