Players glide along the ground when sneaking in blocks occupied by vines

When sneaking on a block containing vines (and standing on the ground), the player will glide for a moment after they stop moving. This makes precise movement in blocks occupied by vines janky and annoying, requiring players to break the vines to prevent this behavior.

The glitch becomes more apparent when using the Swift Sneak enchantment, but it is present no matter what.

This behavior is not present when the player is walking or sprinting instead of sneaking, suggesting that it is a bug rather than intentional programming.

I attached an image showing a way to easily reproduce the issue.

To reproduce this glitch:

  1. Build the setup shown in the image.

  2. Sneak into the yellow area in between the vines. Any point in this area will work; contact with the vines is not necessary as long as you occupy the same block.

  3. Stop pressing the move forward button but keep sneaking.

  4. You will notice the player will continue to glide for a moment despite no longer moving.
