The note particles' movement in the music toast is tick-based and doesn't match the music

Description:

Music in the game always plays, even when the game is paused or frozen, but when the game is frozen with the “music toast” feature on and music playing, the icon next to the author and name of the song keeps changing color but stops moving.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Have music playing, e.g. by setting “Music Frequency” to “constant” in the Music & Sounds settings

  1. Go to Music & Sounds and turn on “Show Music Toast”

  1. Run /tick freeze

  1. Observe that the music icon keeps changing color but stops moving

Expected result:

The music notes should keep moving, along with the color change and the music itself.

Actual result:

The musical note symbols stop moving, while the color change and music both continue and are not affected by the tick freeze.

Can confirm

This behavior occurs because of a technical desynchronization in the UI rendering:

  • Icon Movement Animation: Tied directly to game/client ticks (which are halted by the /tick freeze command).

  • Color-Shifting Effect: Utilizes system time (likely Util.getMillis()), meaning it continues to update independently of the game's frozen tick rate.

Thank you for your report!
After consideration, the issue is being closed as Won't Fix.

Please note that this is not the same as Working as Intended, as this bug report correctly describes behavior in the game that might not be the intended or desirable behavior, but it will not be fixed right now. Sometimes, this is because the issue reported is minor and/or impossible to change without large architectural changes to the code base.
