I am also unable to replicate this problem with the large or the small GUI scale at any resolution.

Are you using the HD MC Patcher?

Are you able to eliminate the issue by playing the game without a modded jar? My guess is that optifine (or some other change) has modified the font's behavior and broken this part of the UI.

Yes, apparently it was Optifine that was causing the font problem...

The feature is working as intended, Optifine seems to cause some issues with the keen font.

I noticed this, and I was about to report it. I do have optifine and it makes sense that it could have modified the font, thanks for telling us, it seemed weird.

I have this issue in 14w02b without any mods. However for me the text takes three lines taking up space between inventory and enchantement selection, instead of going to the right.

@Domantas : Please attach screenshots and please force a crash by pressing F3 + C for 10 seconds while in-game and attach the crash report ([minecraft/crash-reports/crash-<DATE>-client.txt|http://hopper.minecraft.net/help/finding-minecraft-data-folder]) here.
