On macOS, the first characters typed after a text field (chat, sign, book, search box, etc.) gains focus are committed immediately instead of being composed by the input method. With a Korean input source, typing 안녕하세요 results in ㅇㅏㄴ녕하세요: the first syllable 안 is broken into the separate letters ㅇ and ㅏ, because each of them was committed on its own instead of being composed into one syllable. (The ㄴ after them is simply the leftover consonant, since composition works again from 녕 onwards.) Deleting the broken characters and typing them again composes them correctly
This happens in unmodified Minecraft on macOS (no mods, no resource packs), and is reproducible from 26.1.x through 26.3-snapshot-5.
Steps to reproduce the issue
On macOS, add the Korean input source
Start Minecraft Java Edition [26.x] with no mods and enter any world.
Open chat screen, switch the input source to Korean, type any Korean text.
Type 안녕하세요. (key sequence: d k s s u d g k t p d y)
Expected result
Every syllable is composed by the input method: 안녕하세요
Actual result
The first syllable is not composed, its letters are committed separately: ㅇㅏㄴ녕하세요
Additional information
Reproducible in vanilla, with no mods installed, on every version from 26.1.x to 26.3-snapshot-5. This covers both the GLFW-based versions and the SDL3-based 26.3 snapshots, so it does not look specific to one windowing backend.
Only the characters typed right after the text field gains focus are affected; everything after them is composed normally.
The common factor seems to be that text input is only enabled for the window once a text field gains focus, and the key presses arriving immediately after that are not routed into the input method's composition session, so they are committed as raw characters.
Environment
MacBook Pro 16 (M3 Pro, macOS Tahoe (26.5.2))
