On some graphics cards, menu background blur creates black bands along the in-game horizon

After opening the pause menu (ESC), a clearly visible black horizontal border/band appears along the horizon. The artifact is visible in the background behind the menu and extends across the entire width of the screen. The issue disappears, or is no longer visible, after returning to gameplay with the pause menu closed.

Expected:
The horizon should be rendered normally, without any black border or band.

Actual:
Opening the ESC menu causes a black horizontal band to appear along the horizon.

I don't have that problem.

Please upload 2 more screenshots with the debug overlay (F3) enabled and showing the game version and system specs. One screenshot should show the world as it looks while playing, and the other should show the pause menu.

Also, does setting Menu Background Blur to Off mitigate the issue at all?

yes, disabling the menu background blur fixes the bug as seen in the new screenshot, setting this option to a higher value makes the problem worse

Thank you, I will mark this as Plausible so Mojang can take a look at it

I cannot reproduce this issue, and it appears you are not using the latest drivers available for your computer. Can you try updating your drivers to see if that resolves the issue?
