**Brief description of the problem**
In versions 1.20.1 and later (tested up to the latest release), when a player falls into the void through unloaded chunks, multiple issues occur simultaneously: the player does not take void damage, is never teleported back to spawn, and the game's memory usage continuously increases over time, eventually leading to severe lag or crash.
**Steps to reproduce**
1. Launch Minecraft Java Edition (latest version or 1.20.1).
2. Enter a world and move to an area where chunks are unloaded (e.g., by flying quickly with elytra or using commands to unload chunks).
3. Make the player fall into the void through those unloaded chunks.
4. Observe the following over several minutes:
- Player health bar and death screen.
- Whether the player is respawned or teleported back to world spawn.
- Memory usage in the F3 debug screen (top-right corner).
**Expected result**
- The player should take void damage (normally 4 hearts per second below Y = -64) and die, or be teleported back to world spawn upon reaching a certain depth.
- Memory usage should remain stable with regular garbage collection, regardless of fall duration.
**Actual result**
- The player takes no damage, health remains full, no death screen appears, and the player is never teleported back to spawn. The fall continues indefinitely.
- Memory usage steadily climbs as the fall continues, with garbage collection failing to free accumulated data. After a few minutes, memory usage approaches 100% of allocated heap, causing framerate drops, input lag, and eventually game unresponsiveness or an OutOfMemoryError crash.
**Additional notes**
This issue is reproducible in both 1.20.1 and the latest release. It appears to be related to the game continuously processing the player's position in unloaded chunks without properly resetting or clearing temporary data, while also bypassing void damage and respawn mechanics.

A world which had previously been opened with a modified client might be corrupted. Please try reproducing the issue in a newly generated world.
Any plugin issues need to be addressed to the creator of the plugin or resource pack.
If you have problems on large servers like Hypixel, please contact them first as they run modified server software.
