Compass is visually oriented with north to the left instead of upwards

In Minecraft Java Edition 26.2, the compass appears to be visually represented in an unintuitive orientation, both when held by the player and when displayed as an icon in the hotbar.

Conventionally, a compass is represented with north pointing upwards. In Minecraft, however, the compass texture/model appears to be rotated so that the north reference points towards the left side of the item rather than the top.

Actual result

The compass is visually oriented with north towards the left side of the item rather than the top. This can make its direction less intuitive to interpret and may cause the player to use the F3 debug screen to confirm the cardinal direction they are facing.
