Riptide can be applied to any item in the anvil in vanilla Java 26.3

Description:

In Minecraft Java 1.26.3, the anvil allows the enchantment Riptide to be applied to any item, including items that should not be enchantable (in my testing any item, e.g., anvil, emerald, and crafting table). This occurs in a completely vanilla single‑player world with no mods, no datapacks, no resource packs, and no commands used.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Place an anvil.

  2. Insert any item (examples: diamond sword, redstone repeater, stick, dirt, etc.).

  3. Insert an enchanted book with Riptide.

  4. The anvil shows a valid output and allows the enchantment to be applied.

  5. The resulting item displays Riptide III and behaves as an enchanted item.

Expected result:

The anvil should reject Riptide for all items except tridents.

Actual result:

The anvil accepts Riptide for any item, including swords and non‑enchantable items like redstone repeaters.

Environment

Single‑player world, Java Edition 1.26.3. No mods, no datapacks, no resource packs. No commands used. World created in the same version. Issue is fully reproducible on multiple items.
