[MC-3122] Cannot Change Texture Packs!

When I try to change the texture pack, it just crashes MineCraft

What I expected to happen was...:
view the GUI for changing texture packs

What actually happened was...:
Minecraft crashed

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start Minecraft
2. click on texture packs

Does this happen when switching back to the default texture pack?

I would blame the texture pack but it appears to be a 16x16 pack.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
