the game crashes attempting to generate terrain in any superflat world using a custom preset that contains a layer of air blocks.
this crash occurs while generating new worlds and while generating chunks in worlds created before 26.4 snapshot 1.
Newly generated worlds fails to load entirely and are labeled as corrupted/unreadable by the game upon reloading
Older worlds will still load after a crash and run smoothly until the game attempts generating new chunks. staying in chunks generated before 26.4 snapshot 1 will not cause a crash.
Crash only occurs when new chunks are generated,
In either case the game doesn't close itself, instead it will freeze entirely and will have to be closed manually after it stops responding.
Steps to Reproduce
Create a new superflat world using a custom preset containing at least 1 layer of minecraft:air, game will crash during world generation.
Open an old superflat world created before 26.4 snapshot 1 that was created using a custom preset containing least 1 layer of minecraft:air. Moving outside the old chunks or generating new chunks in any way will crash the game
Included is a crash log of a new world generated in 26.4 snapshot 2, as well as the crash log of an older world created before 26.4 snapshot 1
I initially documented this as part of MC-312142, as both crashes started happening in 26.4 snapshot 1, though I was conflating it with MC-312064, which has since been resolved. that's what I get for marking 2 bugs under one report lol

Can confirm this issue reproduces exactly as described on Linux (Mesa Intel HD Graphics 405 / Vulkan backend) using Prism Launcher on 26.4 Snapshot 2.
The superflat world generated fine at first. However, the exact moment I mined down two blocks and looked around to update the chunks, the integrated singleplayer server completely froze, going fully unresponsive.
something bugged out and it didnt upload the crashlogs for some reason
