As explicitly noted in the Preview 26.60.28 changelog, the placement rules for red and brown mushrooms were changed to require central support instead of a full block surface (https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/49076913532557-Minecraft-Beta-Preview-26-60-28 “Red and Brown Mushrooms now require central block support”). This means that red and brown mushrooms can now be placed on top of thin blocks such as fences, iron bars, end rods etc, as seen in the attached screenshot. This change, however, hasn’t been implemented in the 26.4 snapshots released so far.
How to reproduce:
Launch Bedrock Preview
Attempt to place a red or brown mushroom on top of a thin block that provides central support (fence, wall, glass pane, iron bars, chain, end rod, lightning rod etc)
The mushroom is placed
Launch Java snapshot
Attempt to place a red or brown mushroom on top of a thin block that provides central support (fence, wall, glass pane, iron bars, chain, end rod, lightning rod etc)
Observed behavior:
Placement fails
Expected behavior:
The mushroom is placed
