Title: Stationary wind charges do not collide with players or falling blocks after being stopped by a piston and powder snow
Game edition: Minecraft: Java Edition
Version tested: 1.26.1.2
Category: Entity / Projectile collision
Description
I discovered a possible wind-charge collision bug while building a redstone mechanism.
When I use a moving piston and powder snow to stop a wind charge, the projectile remains visible at a fixed position. However, when a player walks into the stationary wind charge, it passes through the player without bursting.
I also tested the interaction with a falling sand entity and blocks. Neither appeared to trigger the expected wind-charge burst.
The projectile appears to remain active despite being stationary and overlapping other objects.
Steps to reproduce
Create a dispenser-based wind-charge mechanism.
Use redstone repeaters to control the timing of the dispenser and piston.
Arrange a moving piston and powder snow so that the wind charge stops at a fixed position.
Wait until the wind charge is stationary.
Walk into the stationary projectile.
Observe whether it bursts.
Repeat the experiment with a falling sand entity and a block.
Expected result
The wind charge should behave according to its normal collision rules when it encounters a player or a valid collision target.
Actual result
The wind charge remains visible at a fixed position. A player can walk into it without triggering a burst. A falling sand entity and a block also fail to trigger the expected burst in my tests.
Reproducibility
Observed in my redstone mechanism. Further testing is needed to establish whether the behaviour also occurs without the piston-and-powder-snow setup.
Evidence
I have a video demonstrating the mechanism in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. I can provide additional footage showing the behaviour in Java Edition.
