Unexplored explorer maps show inaccurate "default" world generation when using non-default settings.

Unexplored explorer maps show a shoreline of the terrain based on default world generation, which may be drastically different from the actual terrain when world generation has been changed from default settings. This can make it more difficult to locate the marked structure and cause confusion. This is true for world generation changes via the “World Type” setting, as well as data packs.

How To Reproduce

  • Create world with non-default world type, such as “large biomes”, or a data pack which affects world generation.

  • Find an explorer map depicting a shoreline.

  • Travel to the marked structure on the explorer map.

Observed Result

Exploring the explorer map will notably change the apparent shoreline of the terrain, as compared to the map when it was unexplored.

Expected Result

Exploring the explorer map does not change the shoreline of the terrain as was shown on the map when it was unexplored.

Image Notes

The two maps in each image attached are the same exact map of the exact same area. This showcases how severe this issue can be, as the two maps appear to show entirely different areas.
