Wonky Iron and Copper Golem Spawning Bug

Affected Versions: 26.3 and the latest snapshot.

  • Short description of the issue
→ When attempting to spawn a Copper Golem near an Iron Golem spawning structure, an Iron Golem spawns instead of the Copper Golem. This only seems to occur when the Copper Golem's spawning structure is positioned north or west of the Iron Golem's structure, within 3 blocks of its center-bottom Iron Block (the first block placed when building the structure). Placing the Copper Golem's structure south or east of the Iron Golem's structure seems to work correctly. Spawning also works correctly when the Copper Golem's structure is positioned 4 blocks away in any cardinal direction. This may be another case of the South-East Rule.

  • Steps to reproduce the issue:
    1. Build an Iron Golem spawning structure using the standard 4-block T-shape (without the Carved Pumpkin yet).
    2. Place a Carved Pumpkin on one of the arms instead of the middle to spawn an Iron Golem.
    3. Place another Carved Pumpkin in the middle of the structure, then remove the Carved Pumpkin from the arm.
    4. Position the Copper Golem's spawning structure 1–3 blocks north or west of the center-bottom Iron Block of the Iron Golem structure, then attempt to spawn a Copper Golem.
    5. Observe that an Iron Golem spawns instead of the Copper Golem.

  • Expected result
→ Copper Golems should spawn correctly regardless of the relative positioning or orientation of their spawning structure. The nearby Iron Golem structure should not interfere with Copper Golem spawning or cause an Iron Golem to spawn instead.

  • Actual result
→ When the Copper Golem's spawning structure is positioned 1–3 blocks north or west of the center-bottom Iron Block of the Iron Golem structure, an Iron Golem spawns instead of the Copper Golem. Copper Golems spawn correctly when their structure is positioned south or east of the Iron Golem's structure, or when positioned 4 blocks away in any cardinal direction.
