Summary:
While playing on 26.4 Snapshot 7, the game crashes about 4 minutes after
entering a single-player world with:
java.lang.IllegalStateException: HRESULT failure DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
at com.mojang.renderpearl.util.dx.DXUtils.crashIfFailure(DXUtils.java:10)
at com.mojang.renderpearl.backend.vulkan.D3D12GpuSurface.present(D3D12GpuSurface.java:610)
at com.mojang.renderpearl.frontend.FrontendGpuSurface.present(FrontendGpuSurface.java:118)
at net.minecraft.client.Minecraft.renderFrame(Minecraft.java:1413)
This did NOT occur on the previous snapshot (26.4 Snapshot 6) with the same
world, settings and hardware, so this appears to be a regression introduced
in 26.4 Snapshot 7.
Steps to Reproduce:
Launch 26.4 Snapshot 7 on a system using an Intel Arc 140V GPU with the
Vulkan graphics backend enabled.Create or load a single-player world (the affected world used a custom
resource pack: "XK redstone display 26.3.0.zip").Play normally for several minutes (view distance 24, simulation distance 12).
The game crashes with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED during frame presentation.
What I expected to happen:
The game continues running without a GPU device-removal crash.
What actually happened:
The Vulkan/D3D12 presentation call fails with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
(GPU driver was reset by Windows / TDR), and the game exits to the crash
report screen. The world itself saves correctly.
Notes for investigation:
The crash happens in D3D12GpuSurface.present(), not in window resize —
this is a different call site from the known Vulkan resize crash
(MC-312444).Windows Event Viewer may show a Display driver reset (Event ID 4101)
at the same timestamp.Logs and crash report are attached.
