Description
If a Sniffer is trapped—with doors or any blocks lacking a full collision box positioned directly against one or two adjacent sides, while the remaining two or three sides are blocked off by blocks with a full collision box spaced one block away—it will not dig for seeds for a very long time, even if the ground beneath its feet consists entirely of grass blocks.
Steps to Reproduce
Create a default superflat world in Creative mode
Place stone at (-2, -60, 0), (-2, -59, 0), (0, -60, -2), (0, -59, -2), (-2, -60, 0), (-2, -59, 0).
Place an oak door at (0, -60, 1); facing: north; hinge: left; open: false
Spawn a sniffer at (0, -60, 0)
Enter the command: /tick sprint 5d (or a longer duration)
Observe whether "Sniffer drops seed" appears in the closed captions
Kill the sniffer
Replace the stone at (-2, -60, 0), (-2, -59, 0) to an oak door at (1, -60, 0); facing: west; hinge: right; open: false
Spawn a sniffer at (0, -60, 0)
Enter the command: /tick sprint 5d (or a longer duration)
Observe whether "Sniffer drops seed" appears in the closed captions
Observed Result
For a long time, the phrase "Sniffer drops seed" will not appear in the closed captions.
Expected Result
Sniffers should be able to dig up seeds from any grass blocks within the range of (-2, -61, -2) to (2, -61, 2).
Additional Notes
Reproduced 10 out of 10 attempts.
Issue observed in a new world with default settings.
No resource packs, add-ons, or experimental features are enabled.
Replacing the doors with fences yields the exact same result.
The same result can be obtained in any direction.
This result also does not occur when the two doors are not on adjacent sides, or when there are doors on three or all four sides.
