I've been exploring a cave system, but the game has bugged out. Now, any blocks I destroy don't drop, no mobs are spawning, I can do the animation for but can't actually consume food, and if I venture too far in any direction, the map just stops, and it's a sheer drop into nothingness.
When I load up the game again for a while my character is falling and there is absolutely nothing around me.
The worse thing is, if I do anything, after a period of time I'll be warped back to where I was when I loaded up, and everything I've done since then will be undone. After this happens a few times the game quits. I once got a screen that had a long message that started by telling me my memory had ran out, however I couldn't read the rest due to the game quitting.
I don't know what caused this - my computer's got plenty of spare memory, and in game I did nothing abnormal prior to getting this bug.

In the launcher click "Edit Profile" and where it says launcher visibility check the box and select "Keep Launcher Open" from the drop down menu

I've tried doing all that, however the launcher becomes completely unresponsive. Even after the game itself has quit it sticks around.
The CTRL-A command won't work, and I can't click and drag to select all the text either. Any attempt to interact with the text results in my computer becoming unresponsive for a minute but otherwise no changes.
When playing the game and the bug occurs, hold F3+C for at least 10 seconds. When you release the game will close and the Launcher will move to a new tab called "Crash Report"
That is the text required. If you can't select anything, there will be a button in the top left that says "Open report file". Which will open the bug report in a txt file.
Quick fix, does this still occur in version 1.6.4
If you can Force a crash ingame by pressing and hold F3 + C for 10 seconds (may take 30) and attach it to this bug. If your game did crash though, there may already be one. Go to
C:/Users/<your username>/AppData/Roaming/.minecraft/crash-reports/
