setblock command cannot spawn valid block 36

I cannot spawn valid block 36 (minecraft:piston_extension) with /setblock command. I tried specifying and skipping every tag except blockId.

  • What I expected to happen was...:
    I could spawn a stone like being moved by piston

  • What actually happened was...:
    An idle block 36 spawned

  • Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Create a world with cheats on
    2. Type in command:
    /setblock ~ ~ ~ minecraft:piston_extension 0 destroy {blockId:1,progress:0.0,extending:1,blockData:0,facing:0}

Ezekiel, by "requested information" do you mean affected version? If so, this was provided 28/Nov/13 soon after your request.

This issue still exists in version 1.8.4 (the "steps to reproduce" generate an invisible static block).

it's there, you cannot place another block at that location now
instead of 0 use any other positive number for the direction

Block 36 is an internally used technical block and not supposed to be used by players.
