I was playing a PvP game wherein you have only half a heart. And I discovered (the hard way) that if you place a block on a fence when you are standing next to the fence, you place that block on yourself. Normally, nothing happens when you place a block on yourself, but if you are next to a fence and place it on the fence, it happens anyway.
I ended up accidentally placing a block on myself via the fence and killing myself through suffocation damage.
Please fix this, and it causes much grief and anger for those inconvenienced by it.

Can confirm in latest snap shot (put block on both top and bottom but couldn't show it. so I removed the one on my head to take the screen shot... note another funny thing... if you use a grass block it tries to push you out, but if you use a redstone block you go inside it like its transparent and the sky goes dark)
