sorry have tried logging in again to MINECRAFT and still getting this error:-

argh - this is my 6 year old son's account and he is devestated!!

Delete the file [minecraft|http://hopper.minecraft.net/help/finding-minecraft-data-folder]/saves/<WORLDNAME>/session.lock

Elizabeth, I recommend you use the Mojang Support Center as they are more familiar with MC technical issues and can probably assist you in a more timely fashion than we can on the bug tracker.
