I was in the latest snapshot but had to switch to 1.6.4 and while i was in the snapshot i made one of the new types of portals and when i switched the portal still worked

this isn't a bug, since the purple part of the portal is made of individual blocks, not just one huge portal.

there are actually block of portal they can be still on any older version (which includes nether)
