Links cause fps drop when visible

Can you see the difference between 330 and 290 FPS ?

As long as a very simple thing like showing a link causes performance drop (13% on my rig), does it matter? I think not. I don't see why should we discuss whether one should want more than 60 fps or not. It's a feature of the game and players are not forced to play capped at their monitor's max refresh rate anyway.

Unable to reproduce. I get a solid 80fps with and without visible links.

Have you set the frame limiter to 80 fps? In 1.7 versions I noticed (probably due to new rendering) that fps fluctuate a lot before stabilizing to a maximum, compared to previous versions of Minecraft.

It also occurs when achievements are shown in the chat box.

No my fps is not under the effects of a limiter.

I actually experience this as well. I am using minecraft 1.7.4 and recently I have been having fps fluctuations from several things, this included. It is my honest belief that mojang needs to find a way to balance the fps in this game better.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 14w08a / Launcher version 1.3.9 or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
