Mobs Rarley Spawning Above And Below Ground

Mobs rarley spawn, both on server and in single player, my game mode is on hard, and mob spawning rule is on, and still they do not appear, When i was last playing i seen 1 spider in 3 hours of gameplay.

Please force a crash by pressing F3 + C for 10 seconds while in-game and attach the crash report ([minecraft|http://hopper.minecraft.net/help/finding-minecraft-data-folder]/crash-reports/crash-<DATE>-client.txt) here.

Been noticing this too. Seems to be affecting Vanilla Servers, in our case, we've had fewer than 10 spawns in one large area.

What setting do you have for view distance on your servers?

Turns out this issue is a duplicate of MC-2536. If you set your view distance to 10, it should correct the problem.
