[MC-41890] Cannot connect to servers

Well, when I try to connect to a server I get the following message:

[09:27:46 INFO]: Client> Exception in thread "Server Connector #1" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class ef

The Launcher seems working fine and has access to the internet but when i press play i can neither find any servers and nor connect to them.

Not sure this will make a difference, but...

Your Java version is out of date! Please update your Java to the latest version: http://www.java.com/en/download/ .

When using a 32-bit browser on a 64-bit operating system the automatic version detection will only show the 32-bit version of Java, the 64-bit version needs to be downloaded manually: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp .

well actually I'm using jre-6u45-linux-i586.bin which is the latest version I think

Latest Java version is 1.7.0_45 (at least for Windows, I'm not sure how it's on Linux.

As far as I the JRE6 branch is also supportet

It is, but it is always recommended to update to the latest version.

Please attach the complete output of the "Development console" tab of the launcher.

Click the text, press CTRL-A to select all, then CTRL-C to copy, and CTRL-V to paste in a comment on this ticket.

If the launcher closes after game start, please edit your profile and select "Launcher visibility" then, "Keep the launcher open".

FreeBSD 9.2 / 64 bit, linux-sun-jdk1.6.0, same problem.
