Frequent disconnects in 1.7.4

Players are frequently disconnected with this showing in the log:

[09:21:57] [Server thread/INFO]: PLAYER lost connection: TextComponent{text='Disconnected', siblings=[], style=Style{hasParent=false, color=null, bold=null, italic=null, underlined=null, obfuscated=null, clickEvent=null, hoverEvent=null}}

This occurs with the same frequency regardless of network connection. It happens for players from thousands of miles away, and for me, in the same room as the server, on the same high-speed network.

Both the client and the server are running Mavericks and the same version of Java.

Simply playing for a while will expose the problem, and it happened identically in 1.7.3, but before I could report it, you released 1.7.4, which I had hoped would fix it.
