I load the launcher and click "Play", a long load, then the play button grays out and I can't click it and it just sits there

What I expected to happen was to be able to be able to play Minecraft

What actually happened was it grayed out the "Play" button and I couldn't

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Load the Minecraft Launcher
2. Click "Play"
3. Let it load
4. Notice that you can't actually play (grayed out "Play" button and nothing happening)

A man with a problem

I've deleted and redownloaded about 3 times in a row now to no avail. I then proceeded to change the version it'd be loading from 1.7.4 to 1.0 and it still does the exact same thing. I checked the thing this "duplicated" from and on it they don't have a resolution. I thought after a couple of months I'd start playing the PC version again to check out cool features but I guess I won't be doing that.

Actually, there is (are). The resolution is "Invalid" as it's not a Minecraft issue.

There is nothing for us to work on. If your local settings somehow prevent the game from installing there is very little we can do programmatically.
You might have started it with the wrong permissions before (like Administrator) and now the files refuse to be updated because of permission-issues.
You might have an overly protective antivirus/firewall/similar 'protection' thing that needs to be turned off (and sometimes even completely uninstalled) for it to work.
