launcher problem

OK so i recently got a new laptop and decided to get minecraft on it and when i press the play button the launcher goes away and pops up again and i'm not even able to play the game. it also sometimes comes up with that green loading bar gets to the ends and just switches off. i have re downloaded the game about twenty times and still nothing is helping. i had minecraft on my old pc and it worked fine.
