after playing for about an hour or so my screen freezes for aprox. 6-11 seconds unfreezes long enough to push a button then freezes for another 6-11 seconds. It seems like it is some sort of memory overflow or something because it happens faster if i port into and out of the nether. If I close the Client and re open it it fixes the problem
is it possibly a workspace filling up or not enough RAM? I used to play Minecraft before on the same computer and never had this problem. I recently downloaded it again and started playing and this bug started with my new install.
I looked at the forums for a similar thread and only saw 2 posts regarding FPS, neither posters left any system info so the replies were basically hmm not sure wtf you are talking about.

yes. yes it does, but thank you for pointing out my java platform was out of date.
You stated that before you reinstalled Minecraft you didn't have this problem. Did you have any mods installed or did you have any mods installed in the past (eg. Optifine)?
I have always run minecraft completely unmodded.
Also I have learned that while the game is in the middle of lagging i.e. it takes me 60 seconds to move 8 tiles in a powered mine cart, that mobs are not experiencing this lag at all. I was sailing by a beach well out of range of skeletons and lagged with a nice little picture of 2 creepers and 3 skeletons on a beach staring at me. by the time I got my split second of control after that, I was dead from both creepers swimming out after me and blowing me up in my boat. then I had to wait 10 more seconds just to push escape to exit/save my game. the lag effects the game in and out of menu.
thank you for taking the time to address my problem.

Does this still occur if you update your java?
