What I expected to happen was...:
Go the hole way up and explode and show some firework
What actually happened was...:
go 3 block up and it was away but no explode in the air or no firework

Creativ:
1. Take the firework from creative
2. Right click on a block
3. it goes up and away
Survival
1. make the FireWork rocket
2. Right click on a block
3. it goes up and away and still no explode in the air or no firework

Are you sure you are using gunpowder and firework stars in the recipe?
This happened to me as well. Once I downloaded the snapshot and tried the fireworks,they went up into the air for about 3 blocks before disappearing entirely.
